Here we Go! Week 1

OK, folks. If you have your books lets get started. It's as simple as I said in church. We will read the first chapter this week. When you get through check back in here and post a comment or just read what others have posted. I'm hoping this will be a good way for us to stay on task without having to meet another night during the week. I pray that the Holy Spirit will bless you greatly as we discover this timeless attribute of our God.

Chapter 1 - To be awakened and sent out from your dorm just before midnight. First of all, would I really do that? Obedience is always key to experiencing God in His HOLY fulness. I enjoyed Chapter 1. I'm humming "LORD, You are holy" even now as I'm about to head out the door for work. Have a good day, everyone.

  2. Gaye I reposted your comment on this new thread, if that's OK. This is exactly what I was hoping for! I have read this book once and listened to audio once and remember thinking "R.C. was pretty spiritual to get up like that". But that's as far as I went. Gaye, your point about obedience is spot on!

  3. Just as a point of information, if you would like an easy way to follow the blog scroll down towards the bottom and you will see a window to submit your e-mail address. By doing so you will receive an e-mail when someone comments. At the end of the study you can un-follow. Course, no one will be commenting so you will not receive e-mails at all, unless you want to be involved in the next Reading in the Spring.

The first thought that comes to our mind when we think of God is our theology. Is it a combination of fear, peace, reverence, awe or is it my bestest friend and buddy? Think about the O.T. incidents when humans came in contact with Angels or the Angel of the Lord. In all most every case they fell prostrate or great fear swept over them. Is this how you feel when you best bud comes over? Holy, Holy, Holy 24/7 for eternity is proclaimed around the Throne. I got a feeling there is a reason for that!

  5. After reading the first chapter I was thinking back in time and I remember a time when I felt the Holy Spirit speaking to me. I was forunate enough to realize what was happening and I recieved Jesus as my saviour and Lord that day. To speak of God's holiness, I'm reminded of so many times when i've taken things in life for granted. Vicky and I went to Pa last week and while we were driving I begin to watch for God and his handy work. The vast sky and the great mountains, the creeks and rivers that flow in so many directions. Everwhere we went I could see God, I was able to relax and take in the work God did at creation. Now He only spoke and all these things were created and then you consider His Holiness, its impossible for me the even consider how Holy God is and to even think He would consider me a sinner destined for hell. Yes i've felt and taken part of His Holiness through the blood of Jesus Christ and I like Paul await the day I will be with Him in Heaven. I agree with Gaye, obedience will allow you to experience God's holiness and will draw you nearer to Him and His will for your life.
