These two chapters are titled "The Nature of True Repentance". We learned in Chapter 1 that Repentance is a necessary grace to Salvation. It simply is Repentance and Faith in Christ. We learned in Chapter 2 what Repentance is not, so a logical question is; if I have to have it, then what is it? Sorry about the late Posting. These 2 chapters are a little longer, but you will be rewarded next week, chapter 5 is 2 pages.
WOW! This was a great read. The six ingredients of Repentance.
ReplyDelete1.Sight of Sin
2.Sorrow for Sin
3.Confession of Sin
4.Shame for Sin
5.Hatred for Sin
6.Turning from Sin
The way Watson explains each of these is magnificent. Growing up Church of God I use to believe you could loose your salvation. However; I couldn't square it with those passages in the Bible that spoke against it. I would see people "get saved" (including myself) and 3 months later living an unchanged sinful life. I finally came to the conclusion, those people, and more importantly me, were never saved to begin with. We had an emotional experience. Watson explains true repentance to a T.
